Words From The Prez

Well here it is guys. Summer time. We are heading into the hot months.

The first thing to think about when you're hitting the road is to keep yourself hydrated. If you don't have the means to carry water with you, make sure you plan to stop periodically and get water. You don't want to be out there somewhere and get dehydrated. Also you might want to think about sunscreen if you ride with short sleeves or if you wear sleeveless shirt. Even your face and hands are to be considered. I've seen some guys come back from rides before with some red noses.

On the 21st of this month is Father's Day. I know that we like to be taken care of and waited on Father's Day. I'm reminded of the day when I got left at church on Father's Day. I had ridden to church with one of my children that morning for music practice. After the service my darling wife rushed off to make sure lunch was going to be ready. I was talking to some people after church and when I walked out to the parking lot I had no ride to get home. Luckily, at the time, we only lived a mile away from the church. I started walking home. I had three people from the church stop and offer me a ride, but I turned them all down. Needless to say, when I got home, and they realized that I had to walk home I was taken good care of after that. It all worked out for the good. I needed the exercise, and I had a great Father's Day. I hope you all have a great Father's Day and I hope none of you get left to walk home.

We would like to wish Dennis & Pam, and Rich & Tammy a very Happy Anniversary this month.

I would like to take this time to give a tribute to a very special person. My brother, Major K. P. Martin, USMC, is retiring on June 4th. He has spent the last 29 years in the Marine Corp doing his part to defend our country. He started out as a "grunt" before Ronald Reagan was President. He has worked very hard and accomplished many things in his career. I'll never forget the day when I had the opportunity to go to Quantico Virginia to see him graduate as a Warrant Officer. Since that time he has excelled and have been promoted until reaching the rank of Major. He has had the opportunity to be an influence in the lives of a lot of young men and women. He has had to sacrifice time with his own children, but has been very dedicated to his calling. One of his best friends has been promoted at the same time with him each step of the way since they were Warrant Officers. Since my brother chose to retire, his friend got the next promotion to Lt. Colonel. He is the Officer who is doing the retiring ceremony. What an Honor. I just want to thank, who we call, "Buddy" for his many years of service to us and our country.

God Bless each of you,

Darryll

It's not the destination that matters, it's the ride getting there.
